Lila sat quietly at her table, her collection of crayons neatly arranged, each one a vibrant hue. Although shy, she loved the colors and the way they danced across her paper. Across the room stood Max, a new boy in town, looking uncertain and out of place.
Lila noticed Max struggling, his desk empty. Her heart fluttered with empathy, remembering her own first day. "Would you like to use my crayons?" she offered softly, her voice barely above a whisper.
"Thanks, Lila! I didn't bring any," Max replied, his voice filled with relief. Together, they colored, exchanging ideas and laughter. The crayons became a bridge, connecting two souls who felt alone.
Lila was surprised at how easy it was to talk to Max. "What's your favorite color?" she asked, genuinely curious. "Blue, like the sky," Max answered, pointing at his drawing.
As they packed up, Max looked at Lila with a smile. "I'm glad you shared with me today," he said sincerely. Lila nodded, feeling warmth spread in her chest. "Me too," she replied, knowing they had both gained a friend.
The day had taught them a lesson that would last beyond the classroom walls. Sharing had not just been about crayons; it had been a way to open their hearts. As Lila and Max walked out together, they knew they would face whatever tomorrow brought as friends.
