Lila tugged at her brother's sleeve, her breath fogging the glass. Finn, eyes wide, watched as the snowflakes twirled in the chilly breeze, catching glimmers of pale sunlight. "Finn, look! The snowflakes are sparkling like they've got tiny stars inside," she whispered, voice trembling with excitement.
Finn crouched beside a drift, reaching out as a snowflake landed on his mitten. It pulsed with a soft blue glow. "Did you see that, Lila? This one's different—it's warm!" Lila knelt beside him, her mitten brushing his, as they gazed at the luminous flake, its crystalline edges shifting with color.
The snow-creature shudders and springs to life, its pebble eyes twinkling with mischief. Lila's mouth drops open in awe. "It's moving! Look at its little arms!" Finn claps his hands, grinning as the toy wobbles around in the snow, leaving tiny trails behind.
They craft new toys—an owl with button eyes, a miniature sleigh, a fleet of snow-mice—all animated by the magical flakes. "We could make a whole parade of them!" Lila giggles, her cheeks flushed. The toys hop and glide around their feet, casting playful shadows on the walls.
"We have to bring them back before anyone sees!" Finn nods, determination in his eyes. They bundle up again, chasing after their creations as the moon rises, silver and watchful above them.
"We'll keep you safe, little friends," Finn whispers as he tucks the toys back into the shed. Lila closes the door, her smile tired but triumphant. The world outside is peaceful once more, the secret of the snowflakes safe in the children's hearts.
