Winston, a small bat with joyful blue and yellow fur, flutters through the entrance of the school. Despite his radiant colors, he carries himself with kindness and joyfulness never letting the sideways glances dull his spirit. The halls are alive with chatter, paws and claws tapping against the smooth floors as students greet each other with smiles and laughter.
"Ha! Look at you, Winston. Those silly colors make you look even smaller," Chic sneers, his voice echoing off the blue-painted walls. Winston simply smiles, his wings tucked in, and replies with gentle confidence. "Your colors are unique too, Chic. We’re all special here, even if we look different."Chic scowls and storms off, leaving Winston standing tall in his own way, proud of his difference.
Theo takes a deep breath, glancing up at the towering school lit by the soft glow of starlight. She wonders what tomorrow will bring—her heart heavy with anxiety, but also fluttering with a spark of excitement. As she settles into her new dorm, she arranges her blue shoes and pink fluffy dress for her first day, determined to make a good impression.
"Well, well, what do we have here? Another rainbow disaster. Did you fall into a paint bucket or something?" Chic mocks, his voice sharp and cold. Theo's ears droop, and she clutches her lunch tightly, tears welling in her eyes. "I... I just wanted to fit in," she whispers, her voice trembling.
"Don’t listen to him, Theo. My mom always says that when someone bullies you, it’s because they see something in you that reminds them of themselves—something they wish they had. You’re amazing just the way you are. And guess what? Now you’ve got a friend and a secret fan," Winston says, his eyes shining with warmth. Theo sniffles, a smile breaking through her tears, and together they stride down the hall, heads held high.
"What kind of weirdo puts tuna in their sandwich?" he scoffs, but his stomach rumbles. Theo beams and tears her sandwich in half, offering a piece to Chic. "You should try it! It’s really good. Sharing makes lunch better," she says. Chic grumbles, but accepts the sandwich, chewing thoughtfully—though he mutters a half-hearted complaint, a faint smile tugs at the corner of his mouth.
"Maybe... maybe being different isn’t so bad," he admits softly, glancing at Winston and Theo. Winston grins, and Theo laughs, the trio basking in the beauty of their unique colors and growing friendship.
"Whenever someone tries to dim your colors, just smile and shine brighter," Winston declares. Theo nods, and Chic joins in, laughter echoing through the halls. In Star Dust City, they learn that kindness, courage, and a dash of color can turn even the unlikeliest of friends into a family.
