Summer, a small pitty with a gleaming copper coat and bright, hopeful eyes, bounds outside, tail wagging furiously. She pauses to sniff the cool air, her ears perked as birds chirp overhead. The world feels alive, filled with possibility, and Summer lets out a joyful bark.
Her paws leave gentle prints in the soft earth as she investigates every corner, nose twitching at the scent of fresh soil and wild daisies. Summer loves nothing more than the outdoors; the open sky makes her heart soar. She circles a patch of clover, watching a butterfly settle atop a blossom, tail swishing eagerly.
Summer rushes over, her excitement palpable, and the children greet her with squeals of delight. "Hi Summer! Do you want to play with us?" one little girl asks, kneeling down to pet her gently. Summer nuzzles her hand, her tail thumping like a drum.
Summer races after a bouncing ball, ears flapping, and slides to a stop, barking playfully. The children laugh, urging her on, and she leaps in circles, never letting the fun fade. "You’re so fast, Summer!" another child calls, clapping as Summer brings the ball back.
Summer lies beside the children, her head resting on a small lap, eyes half-closed in bliss. Fingers stroke her soft fur, and she feels safe, loved, and perfectly at home. "Summer always makes us smile," a child murmurs, and the others nod in agreement.
The children hug Summer and promise to return soon, their voices lilting with affection. As the sun dips below the horizon, Summer watches them go, knowing tomorrow will bring more sunshine, laughter, and friendship. She curls up in her favorite patch of grass, dreaming of the adventures yet to come.
