Tata skipped along the pat, her long unkept hair in a matching baseball cap. Her fluffy dog, Mocha, trotted happily beside her, his bright red collar shining in the sunlight. Mom watched from behind as the pair headed to the playground. "Oh, Mocha, I wonder what new friends we'll meet today. I hope I don’t get too scared or worried!"
At the entrance of the playground, Tata began to feel butterflies in her stomach and her feet felt stuck to the floor. Tata couldn’t really hear anything as her eyes began to look around to try and feel safe. Then Lila, with her freckled face beaming under a colorful hairband, glanced up and waved, "Hi there! I'm Lila. Want to draw with me?" Tata hesitated for a moment, feeling all of Big feelings in her little body. But Mocha gave her a gentle nudge, looked her in the eyes as if to say “ you got this, Tata!”.
Tata took a deep breath and smiled, "I'd love to, Lila! Can Mocha come with us?" Mocha wagged her tail excitedly, settling down beside them as Lila nodded with a grin. "Of course! Mocha can help us draw too!"
Tata and Lila giggled as they exchanged chalk, their friendship blossoming like the flowers around them. Tata felt the Big feelings melt away, replaced by joy and feeling happy. Mocha snuggled closer, to continue to support and love Tata.
Tata wiped the chalk off her hands with a happy heart, "Thank you, Lila! I had so much fun today." Lila waved as she headed home, "See you soon, Tata! Bye, Mocha!" With a wag of her tail, Mocha barked a friendly goodbye.
Tata looked at Mocha with love, "Thanks, Mocha. With you by my side, the Big feelings aren't so big after all." Mocha gave her a loving nuzzle, her big round eyes full of understanding. Together, they knew that tomorrow would bring new friends and adventures, ready to be discovered hand in paw.
