Riley scampered out of the old pickup truck, her eyes wide with anticipation. Her brother, Colton, followed closely, his stride purposeful and confident. "Come on, Colton! Let's find some treasures!" she exclaimed, tugging at his sleeve.
Colton chuckled, his eyes scanning the horizon. "Alright, Riley, but remember what Nana said. Don't wander too far," he reminded her, his voice a mix of caution and excitement. Riley nodded eagerly, her small hands clutching a makeshift map drawn hastily on a torn piece of paper.
Riley's eyes sparkled with curiosity as she pointed to an old, weathered box partially hidden beneath a moss-covered rock. "Look, Colton! A treasure chest!" she gasped, her voice trembling with excitement. Colton crouched beside her, examining the box with keen interest.
"These must have belonged to PaPaw when he was young," Colton mused, holding the compass up to the light. Riley ran her fingers over the photograph, imagining the stories it held. "Can we keep them?" she whispered, glancing up at her brother.
"I think PaPaw would want us to have them," Colton said softly, a smile playing on his lips. Riley beamed, her heart full of joy and adventure. "I can't wait to tell Nana about our day," she murmured, her voice barely a whisper against the evening breeze.
The day had been filled with wonder and discovery, and as they walked hand in hand, they knew that the memories of this sunlit adventure would stay with them forever. "Let's find more treasures next time!" Riley declared, her voice bright with the promise of future adventures.
