Kendi, a spirited 12-year-old, pushes her bicycle with a basket full of handmade bracelets. Her best friend, Tariq, follows closely, a sketchbook tucked under his arm. "Today is the day we make a difference, Tariq," she says, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
Juma, the leader of the group, smirks. "You think anyone will buy your stuff? This market is tough," he taunts. Tariq stands tall, undeterred. "We believe in our work, and that's what matters," he replies confidently.
Kendi pulls out a small notebook, "We need a plan to attract more people," she asserts. Tariq nods, sketching a few ideas. "How about we offer a free bracelet for every three purchased? And maybe a small art piece with each purchase," he suggests.
"Handmade bracelets and art pieces! Buy three bracelets and get one free!" Kendi calls out, her voice carrying above the market chatter. Curious passersby stop, admiring the colorful display. Tariq hands out small sketches, drawing smiles from the crowd.
Kendi and Tariq count their earnings, their faces glowing with pride. "We did it, Kendi! We sold almost everything," Tariq exclaims. "And we learned the value of earning and saving," Kendi adds, tucking some money away for future projects.
"We have to keep saving, so we can invest in more materials," Kendi muses. "And maybe one day, we'll have our own shop," Tariq replies, his imagination running wild. The adventure had only just begun, and the possibilities were endless.
