Annie giggled as Mimi jingled the car keys. "I can't wait to see all the bubbles, Mimi!" she exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
"It's always fun to watch the car get a bath," replied Mimi, her smile warm as they both climbed into the vehicle.
Annie pressed her nose against the window, mesmerized by the cascade of colors. "Look, Mimi! It's like a rainbow!" she shouted over the noise, her voice filled with awe.
Mimi chuckled, "It's the cleanest our car has ever been!" she said, nodding in agreement as streams of water washed away the soap, leaving the car gleaming.
"Mimi! I see crumbs and scratches!" Annie declared, pointing to the evidence with a frown. "Who could have made this mess?"
Mimi looked puzzled, "I wonder how that happened," she mused, glancing at the curious marks on the seat.
"He's a funny creature, Mimi," Annie explained, "He's like a penguin, but brown and white. He sneaks into cars at night, and he has one blue eye and one green eye!"
Mimi listened intently, "Does he wear anything special?" she inquired, intrigued by the story.
"Sometimes he wears a white, fluffy scarf," Annie continued, "But only when it's really cold."
"We need to stay up late and check for his footprints in the garage," Annie proposed, her voice filled with determination.
Mimi nodded, "I have a net ready. Next time you sleep over, we'll keep watch," she promised, sharing a conspiratorial wink with Annie.
"Did you hear that?" Annie whispered, her heart racing with excitement.
"Let's take a peek," Mimi suggested, slowly opening the door a crack.
There, in the shadowy garage, was Sneaky, Quiet Eddie, with a banana and cookie in hand. His mismatched eyes caught the light as he froze, staring right at them, his fluffy scarf adorning his neck.
"He doesn't look mean, Mimi," Annie whispered, "Let's let him be."
Mimi nodded in agreement, closing the door gently. The two tiptoed back to bed, their hearts full of wonder at the friendly little creature who shared their garage for the night.
