Auggie, a curious two-year-old with a mop of straight hair, toddled across the grass with a bright red ball clutched in his small hands. Beside him bounded Harley, his loyal golden doodle, tail wagging enthusiastically. "Ball!" Auggie giggled, his eyes sparkling with delight as he tossed the ball into the air.
The ball landed with a soft thud, and Harley skidded to a halt, nose nudging it gently before picking it up with a playful growl. She trotted back to Auggie, depositing the ball at the toddler's feet with a proud bark. "Woof!" Auggie clapped his hands in excitement, his laughter ringing out like a joyful bell.
As Auggie crouched down to admire the flowers, a butterfly fluttered by, its delicate wings shimmering in the sunlight. Auggie reached out with wonder, his tiny fingers brushing the air as the butterfly danced away.
"Pretty!" he exclaimed, turning to share his discovery with Harley.
Harley sniffed around, occasionally barking at the rustling sounds in the bushes, while Auggie followed, his face a picture of pure joy and curiosity.
"Let's go!" Auggie cheered, urging his furry companion onward.
Auggie settled on the grass, leaning against Harley's warm side. The golden doodle lay down beside him, his head resting gently on Auggie's lap. "Love you, Harley," Auggie whispered, his voice filled with affection.
The day had been one of simple pleasures and delightful discoveries, and as Auggie drifted into a peaceful slumber, Harley kept watch, her loyal heart beating in time with the heartbeat of his tiny human.
