As the sun shone brightly over the backyard, Biscuit eagerly bounded across the grass, his small paws barely making a sound. Max, the oldest, was busy setting up an obstacle course made from old boxes and broomsticks. Leo was concocting a plan to build a secret fort, while little Sammy chased Biscuit around in circles, their laughter ringing through the air.
"Let's see who can race through the course the fastest," Max declared, his eyes sparkling with the thrill of competition.
"But we need a prize for the winner!" Leo suggested, his mind already whirring with possibilities.
"Biscuit can have extra treats if he wins!" Sammy chimed in, hugging the little dog around his neck.
Biscuit suddenly veered off towards the garden, his nose twitching with curious instinct. He began digging furiously, sending clumps of dirt flying. Max, Leo, and Sammy watched, knowing that this might lead to trouble.
"Uh-oh, Biscuit's found something," Leo said, his eyes widening.
"We have to stop him before he digs up Mom's tulips!" Max cried out, rushing forward with the others.
"Quick, let's make it look like nothing happened," Sammy urged, grabbing a nearby rake.
The trio gathered under the oak tree, their heads bent in a secretive conference. Biscuit sat beside them, panting happily, oblivious to the planning underway.
"We'll fill the hole and cover it with mulch," Max proposed, glancing around to ensure they weren't overheard.
"And then distract Mom with our drawings!" Leo added, his voice a whisper of excitement.
"I'll get the crayons!" Sammy volunteered, springing to his feet.
The boys worked quickly, their hands moving in a blur as they filled the hole and spread a layer of mulch over it. Biscuit trotted around them, occasionally stopping to sniff their work with interest.
"I think that looks pretty good," Max said, stepping back to admire their handiwork.
"Yeah, I don't think anyone will notice," Leo agreed, nodding with satisfaction.
"Let's go show Mom our drawings now!" Sammy suggested, already heading towards the house.
Inside, their mom admired the boys' drawings, her face lighting up with joy. Biscuit lay at their feet, exhausted from the day's adventures but happy to be part of the family.
"These are wonderful!" their mom exclaimed, her eyes twinkling with pride.
"We worked really hard on them," Leo said, exchanging a knowing glance with his brothers.
"And Biscuit helped too!" Sammy giggled, reaching down to scratch Biscuit's ears.
The boys shared a secret smile, knowing that today’s adventure was one they’d remember forever.
