Greg the pug lay sprawled in his plush dog bed, his small black form rising and falling with each contented breath. Nearby, Mae, with her short light blond hair catching the morning light, sat cross-legged on the floor, flipping through a picture book. "Greg, look at this!" she exclaimed, pointing to a colorful illustration. "Woof!" Greg barked happily, his tail wagging in agreement.
Mae giggled as she watched Greg sniff around the kitchen, his nose leading him to a trail of crumbs. "Let's find the biscuits, Greg!" she urged, joining him in the search. Together, they crawled under tables and peeked behind chairs, their laughter echoing through the room as they discovered a forgotten treasure trove of treats.
Greg nestled beside Mae on the fluffy rug, both of them surrounded by a sea of colorful books. "Let's read this one," Mae suggested, holding up a book with a bright cover. As she began to read aloud, Greg listened intently, his head resting on her lap. The rhythmic sound of her voice and the warmth of the afternoon created a peaceful cocoon around them.
Mae suddenly jumped up, a mischievous grin on her face. "Catch me, Greg!" she called, darting across the room. Greg sprang to his feet, his little legs moving as fast as they could carry him. Around the couch, under the table, and back again they went, laughter and barks filling the air as they played their game of tag.
Mae and Greg settled down in front of the TV, Mae clutching a soft blanket while Greg curled up beside her. "This is my favorite show," Mae whispered, her eyes wide with excitement. Together, they watched the colorful characters dance across the screen, sharing a moment of quiet companionship as the day began to wind down.
Greg lay back in his dog bed, his small body warm and content. Mae sat beside him, her hand resting gently on his back. "We had fun today, didn't we, Greg?" she murmured, her voice soft in the dim light. "Woof," came the sleepy response, a promise of more adventures to come.
