Lila sat cross-legged on the plush carpet, her eyes wide with wonder as she traced her fingers over the brightly illustrated pages of a book. Her loyal companion, Max, a golden retriever with a gentle gaze and a wagging tail, lay beside her, his head resting on her knee.
"Max, look! This story is about a brave knight!" Lila exclaimed, pointing at the picture of a knight in shining armor. The dog lifted his head, gazing at the book as if he understood every word.
Lila carefully pronounced the words aloud, her voice growing more confident with each sentence. Max listened intently, his tail thumping softly against the floor.
"Once upon a time, in a land far away," Lila read, pausing to glance at Max. "Woof!" he barked, as if encouraging her to continue.
Lila closed her eyes, imagining herself and Max as the knight and his trusty steed. Together, they embarked on a quest to rescue a trapped princess and defeat a fierce dragon.
"We have to be brave, Max!" she declared, her voice filled with determination. "Woof, woof!" Max replied, his tail wagging furiously.
