Lily pushed aside the dense foliage, her eyes widening at the sight of the cave. "Wow! These crystals are amazing!" she exclaimed, her voice echoing softly in the cavern.
Lily placed a crystal carefully on the table. With a determined look, she raised her hammer, ready to explore its properties. "Crunch!" The crystal shattered into tiny pieces, confirming her hypothesis about solids. "Solids have a definite shape and can't be squished easily," she mused.
Lily noted that the crystal didn't dissolve, a revelation that sparked further questions. "Interesting," she said, recalling her lessons. She reached for the red litmus paper and dipped it into the water. The paper stayed red. "This crystal doesn't seem to be an acid."
Whiskers peered at the crystals with keen eyes. "What are you up to, Lily?" he asked, his tail flicking with interest. Lily smiled and explained her experiments. "Fascinating! Let's see what happens with the blue litmus paper," Whiskers suggested.
Lily used a magnifying glass to get a closer look. "Maybe it reacts with something in the air," she hypothesized. With Whiskers watching intently, she placed another crystal in a jar and sealed it. No bubbles formed. "Aha! The crystal reacts with the carbon dioxide in the air!" she exclaimed triumphantly.
Lily held a crystal up to the fading light, its sparkle serving as a reminder of the day's adventure. "We learned so much today, didn't we, Whiskers?" she said, her voice filled with satisfaction. "Indeed, we did! Science is truly magical," Whiskers replied, purring contentedly beside her.
