Harnam sat by his grandmother's side, listening eagerly as she began another story about brave Sikh heroes. His bright eyes sparkled with excitement as he imagined himself in those tales.
"Grandma, will you tell me about the heroes again?"
Grandmother, with her warm smile and gentle voice,
"Of course, Harnam. Today, I will tell you about kindness and sharing, important lessons taught by our heroes."
Harnam listened intently as Grandmother spoke about the gurdwara, a place where people come to pray and share food.
"In the gurdwara, everyone is welcome, and we show kindness by sharing what we have," she explained.
"I want to help and share too, Grandma," he said with determination.
Harnam held his grandmother's hand as they walked to the gurdwara. The building stood tall, its golden dome shining in the sunlight.
"Look, Harnam, this is where we can help," she said, pointing to the large kitchen where many people were preparing food.
Uncle Singh, a cheerful man with a big smile, greeted them.
"Welcome, Harnam! Would you like to help us today?"
Harnam eagerly joined Uncle Singh and the others, helping to stir the big pot of dal.
"This is fun!" he exclaimed, feeling proud to be a part of the community.
"You are doing a great job, Harnam. Remember, sharing food is a way to show love and kindness," he said, patting Harnam's shoulder.
As the food was served, Harnam met Simran, a girl his age who was visiting the gurdwara for the first time.
"Hi, I'm Simran. Can you show me around?" she asked shyly.
"Sure! Let's play after we eat," he replied with a friendly grin.
Harnam and Simran sat together, talking about their day.
"I learned that being kind and sharing makes everyone happy," Harnam said, feeling content.
"Yes, and it's fun to make new friends!" she added.
Grandmother watched them with a smile, proud of Harnam's big heart.
"You are a true hero, Harnam, just like in the stories," she said softly.
And so, Harnam learned that the stories of heroes were not just tales of bravery but lessons of love and community, lessons he would carry in his heart forever.
