Oletha, a small but spirited Yorkshire Terrier, bounded out of the house, her tail wagging with excitement. She was soon followed by her larger, more composed friend, Birdie, the Bernese Mountain Dog, whose gentle demeanor provided a perfect balance to Oletha's mischief.
"Catch me if you can, Birdie!" Oletha yipped, sprinting towards a group of children engaged in a tennis ball game. Her eyes sparkled with playful intent.
"Oletha, wait!" Birdie called out, trotting after her. But it was too late; Oletha had already snatched the ball mid-game, sending the children into giggles.
Oletha pranced through the garden with the tennis ball, her tiny feet trampling over tulips. Spying a hose coiled by the garden tap, her curiosity got the better of her.
"Oletha, not the hose!" Birdie barked, but Oletha had already grabbed the end, yanking it free. Water sprayed everywhere, drenching both dogs and turning the garden into a muddy playground.
Birdie gently took the hose from Oletha's mouth, her expression one of amused resignation. With a quick shake, she managed to sprinkle water droplets everywhere, drawing a delighted bark from Oletha.
"Let's get you cleaned up," Birdie suggested, nudging Oletha towards the house.
Oletha sat in the tub, her fur covered in frothy bubbles, while Birdie patiently helped wash away the day’s adventures. Despite the earlier chaos, both dogs seemed content, enjoying the soothing warmth of the water.
Snuggled together in Birdie's big, fluffy bed, Oletha and Birdie drifted into a deep slumber. Their dreams were filled with thoughts of tomorrow's escapades, as the stars watched over them with a gentle twinkle.
