Oliver kicked at the dirt beneath his feet, trying to ignore the jeers from a group of bullies nearby. "Why can't they just leave me alone?" he muttered to himself, eyes fixed on the ground. Every day felt like an uphill battle, but today was different. Today, Oliver had a plan.
Oliver spent his summer afternoons in this makeshift workshop, a haven from the outside world. He had stumbled upon a robotics kit, a gift from his uncle, and it had quickly become his obsession. "Let's see if this works," he said, adjusting wires with nimble fingers. Slowly, the pieces came together, and with a final connection, the robot sputtered to life.
"Hello, friend!" chirped RoboBuddy, its voice a blend of synthetic tones. Oliver couldn't help but grin, feeling a warmth he hadn't known in a long time. "We'll have so much fun together," he promised, a spark of excitement igniting within him.
"Hey, yo!" RoboBuddy greeted a baffled passerby. Oliver chuckled, "You need to work on your timing!" As the duo roamed the halls, their antics drew giggles instead of ridicule. For the first time, Oliver felt acceptance.
"Humans sometimes cry when they're happy," Oliver explained, wiping a tear from his eye as RoboBuddy told a joke. "Confusing but fascinating!" the robot responded, its LED smile flashing brighter.
Oliver sighed contentedly, "I never thought I'd have a friend like you," he confessed. "And I never thought I'd learn to laugh!" RoboBuddy replied, its circuits buzzing with joy. Together, they watched the stars, knowing that the journey ahead was full of endless possibilities.
