Waffles, the Millefleur chicken, was no ordinary bird. Her feathers, tiny bursts of floral patterns, shimmered in the morning sun as she curiously watched the big brown UPS truck rumble past the farm each day. Today, she noticed something different. Mr. Austin, the driver, seemed worried as he glanced at his long list of deliveries.
Mr. Austin muttered to himself, "Too many packages, not enough time!" Waffles tilted her head, her curiosity piqued. Perhaps she could be of assistance. With a flutter of her colorful wings, she hopped onto the back of the truck, ready for whatever adventures awaited.
Mr. Austin struggled to carry a big box towards the door. Waffles hopped out and clucked loudly, catching the attention of Mrs. Jewell, he homeowner. "Oh my! A delivery chicken!" she laughed, taking the package from Waffles with delight.
Waffles's sharp eyes spotted Stephen's soccer ball amidst the pile of packages. With a determined peck, she nudged it out and let it roll right to him. "You're amazing, Waffles!" Stephen cheered, his smile as bright as the sun.
Waffles flapped her wings, scaring the squirrel away, and ensured each package reached its rightful owner. She even tugged on ribbons to open gates and balanced boxes on her back, her determination unfaltering.
Mr. Austin wiped his brow, "I don’t know how I did it today," he mused, noticing Waffles hopping off the truck. "Was it you, Waffles? My delivery hero!" He chuckled, pulling out a shiny sticker that read "Helper of the Day" and gently placing it on her feathers.
From that day on, Waffles became the unofficial assistant for Mr. Austin. Each time the UPS truck appeared, Waffles would flap her wings eagerly, ready for another exciting day of deliveries and discoveries in the charming village of Montpelier.
