Annie sat cross-legged on the soft grass, her eyes following a butterfly as it danced through the air. "When I feel a flutter in my tummy, I breathe deep like this," she said to the group, inhaling deeply and letting her breath out slowly. The other children watched, mimicking her calm.
Bobby, with a mischievous grin, looked at his friends. "Sometimes, when I get really mad, I take a step back and count to ten," he shared, demonstrating by taking exaggerated steps backward, causing giggles to ripple through the group.
Clara, with her curly hair bouncing as she moved, picked up a small, smooth stone. "I hold a stone like this and think of all the things that make me happy," she explained, her voice as soothing as a lullaby.
David leaned over the water, his expression thoughtful. "When my thoughts are like a storm, I picture this pond, all calm and still," he said, his eyes reflecting the tranquility of the pond.
Ella, with her bright eyes sparkling, stood up and clapped her hands. "We all have our own way to find calm. Let’s remember them and help each other," she declared, her words met with enthusiastic nods and applause from her friends.
With the day's lessons tucked in their hearts, Annie, Bobby, Clara, David, and Ella walked home, the path ahead bright with possibilities and the promise of more adventures in self-regulation.
