Ant walks slowly, carrying food for winter on her back. She looks busy and careful. Grasshopper sits nearby, playing happily with a small stick like a violin.
"Why do you work so much, Ant? Come and sing with me! The sun is warm, and life is easy."
"I must work now, Grasshopper," Ant says kindly. "Winter will come soon. I need food to eat when the snow is here."
"Winter is far away," Grasshopper laughs. "Let us sing and dance! There is plenty of food."
Grasshopper[/@ch_2] leaps high, playing music. Ant keeps working, carrying small grains to her home. Flowers sway in the breeze.]
"Life is fun!" Grasshopper sings, jumping from one flower to another. Ant looks up and smiles, but keeps working hard.
Ant[/@ch_1] stores her food inside a cozy little hole under a leaf. Piles of seeds and crumbs fill the tiny home.]
"I am tired, but I am ready for winter," Ant whispers to herself. Outside, Grasshopper still sings in the fading light, not worried at all.
Ant[/@ch_1] sits warm inside her home, with food to eat. Grasshopper stands outside, shivering.]
"Oh, it is so cold! Where can I find food now?" Grasshopper looks around, but the ground is empty.
Grasshopper[/@ch_2] hops slowly, feeling weak and hungry. He sees the ant’s home under the leaf, warm and safe inside.]
"Maybe Ant can help me," Grasshopper thinks, gently knocking on the door.
Ant[/@ch_1] stands in the doorway, holding a piece of bread.]
"Dear Ant, I am so hungry. I did not save any food. Can you share with me?" Grasshopper asks sadly.
Ant[/@ch_1] gives Grasshopper some crumbs and a smile.]
"Come in, Grasshopper. You can eat with me today," Ant says. Grasshopper is very thankful.
Grasshopper[/@ch_2] eats happily and feels warm. Ant sits beside him, both safe inside.]
"Thank you, Ant. Next summer, I will work, too. I want to be ready for winter, just like you," Grasshopper says.
"We can sing and work together next year," Ant says. Grasshopper smiles, happy to have a friend.
