Batgirl stood at the kitchen counter, her cape neatly tucked behind her, ready for an afternoon of baking. Little Alex, a bright-eyed, curious child, stood on a stool beside her, eyes wide with excitement and a hint of mischief.
"Alright, Alex, the first step is to prepare the apples," Batgirl instructed, handing Alex a peeler.
"I can do it! Just like peeling a banana, right?" Alex quipped enthusiastically, carefully beginning to peel the apple, though a bit clumsily.
Batgirl measured out the spices, sprinkling cinnamon and nutmeg into the mixture. "Cooking is just like solving a mystery, Alex. You have to find the right clues, or in this case, ingredients," she said with a smile.
Alex nodded, his face dusted with a bit of flour as he stirred with enthusiasm. "I think we're getting close to solving this pie mystery!" he exclaimed.
Alex watched intently through the oven door, fascinated by the pie's transformation. "How long until it's ready?" he asked, bouncing on his toes.
"Patience, young chef," Batgirl replied, ruffling his hair. "Good things come to those who wait."
Alex could hardly contain his excitement. "Do you think it'll taste as good as it smells?" he asked, his eyes shining with anticipation.
Batgirl smiled, leaning against the counter. "I'm sure it will, especially since we made it together," she assured him.
"Here's to a job well done," Batgirl said, raising her fork.
Alex mimicked her, eyes wide with delight as he took a bite. "This is the best pie ever! We should bake together more often!" he declared with a mouthful.
Batgirl chuckled, nodding in agreement. "I think that's a great idea, Alex," she replied warmly, savoring the moment of simple joy and togetherness.
