Max, Leo, and Finn crouched behind a row of hedges, their eyes sparkling with mischief as they unfurled a crumpled piece of paper—a homemade treasure map, complete with X marks and doodles.
"Alright, mates, the treasure is buried near the big oak tree," announced Max, his finger tracing the path on the map.
"And we've got the perfect tool!" Leo grinned, holding up a bright red plastic shovel that gleamed in the sunlight.
Finn peeked over the fence, ensuring the coast was clear. "All clear, lads! Let's go!" he whispered, and with that, they clambered over, landing with soft thuds on the other side.
Leo thrust the shovel into the earth, and Max and Finn scooped out the soil with their hands. "I bet it's pirate gold!" Max speculated, his eyes wide with excitement.
"Whoa, it's not treasure, it's a cat!" exclaimed Finn, stepping back in surprise.
"Maybe it's the guardian of the treasure?" Leo suggested, laughing as the cat sauntered away, seemingly unbothered by its abrupt eviction.
Inside lay a collection of old toys—miniature soldiers, marbles, and a worn-out baseball card. "It's not gold, but it's treasure to us!" Max declared, holding up a toy soldier with a triumphant grin.
"This was the best treasure hunt ever," Leo said, his eyes shining with joy.
"And who knows, maybe next time we'll find real gold," Finn added with a hopeful smile.
