Alexa sat up abruptly, her silver mane wild. She glanced over at her sister, still peacefully asleep in a swirl of soft pink sheets.
"Wake up, wake up! It’s time to go to school. If you don’t wake up, I’m gonna get a bucket of water and dump it all over you."
Lulu stirred, blinking in the bright morning light, her gentle nature already apparent in her calm response.
Alexa stomped downstairs, leaving a trail of impatient energy behind her. She nudged Lulu aside as her sister reached for the milk.
"Move out the way, I need to get the milk,"
While Lulu poured her cereal quietly, Alexa chewed loudly, her "nom nom nom nom nom" echoing through the kitchen, much to Lulu's annoyance.
Their teacher greeted them warmly at the door.
Lulu smiled and replied, "Good, thanks for asking," while Alexa muttered, "Well… nothing."
In math class, Alexa dozed off, her head drooping onto her notebook, missing out on the fun group activities.
Alexa sat alone, her eyes scanning the playground. She tossed out sharp remarks to anyone who wandered close, her words making others steer clear. The laughter of her peers felt distant, and the swing creaked beneath her as she rocked slowly back and forth.
After karate, Alexa joined her family for dinner, her "nom nom nom nom nom" less boisterous than before. She watched Lulu chat happily with their parents, realizing how much kindness brightened the room. As bedtime approached, Alexa hesitated before putting on her headphones, glancing over at Lulu, who was peacefully reading.
Alexa took a deep breath and tried something different.
"Hey, Lulu, do you want the milk first today?"
Lulu's surprised smile warmed Alexa’s heart. At school, Alexa spoke a little kinder, helped a little more, and kept her "nom nom nom" to herself. With each small effort, life began to feel lighter, and the possibilities for happiness stretched out before her like a rainbow after rain.
