Camryn stood in front of her mirror, her eyes sparkling with joy as she admired her reflection. Her kinky curly hair framed her face like a crown, and her almond-shaped eyes shone with confidence. "I see all the beautiful things!" she exclaimed with a wide smile.
Mom entered the room, her presence warm and comforting. "What do you see when you look in the mirror, my love?" she asked gently.
"I see beauty and a queen! I am fearfully and wonderfully made, yep, that's me!" Camryn replied, her voice filled with pride.
The school day began like any other, but a group of kids gathered around Camryn, their words sharp and unkind. They mocked her hair, calling it strange and ugly. Camryn's heart sank, and her confidence wavered.
As she walked away, Camryn felt the sting of their words. She avoided the mirror, her joy overshadowed by doubt.
Mom noticed her daughter's sadness and pulled her into a tight embrace. "Why the sad face, Buttercup?" she asked, her voice full of concern.
Camryn shared her pain, recounting the teasing at school. Her mother's arms tightened around her, offering solace. "Let me tell you a story about the Good Samaritan," she began, her voice soothing.
Mom told the tale of the Good Samaritan, a man who helped a stranger despite being considered odd. Camryn listened intently, her eyes wide with understanding.
"So, mommy, I should be nice to them?" she questioned, a flicker of hope igniting within her.
"Yes, baby. We can't control how others behave, but we can always choose kindness," Mom replied with a smile.
The next day, when the teasing began anew, Camryn stood tall, her heart steady. She responded with kindness, complimenting her peers, creating an unexpected ripple of warmth.
At recess, the children approached her, their apologies sincere. Friendships bloomed from the seeds of kindness, their laughter echoing through the yard.
Camryn eagerly awaited her mom’s arrival. As they drove home, she shared her triumph, her voice alive with excitement. "Mommy, I will always choose to be kind, because it’s the right thing to do," she declared.
Mom glanced at her daughter in the rear-view mirror, pride shining in her eyes. "I’m so proud of you, baby," she said softly.
Back home, Camryn returned to her mirror, her reflection a queen once more. "I see beauty and a queen! I'm fearfully and wonderfully made, yep, that's me!" she proclaimed, her voice filled with joy and certainty.
From that day on, Camryn walked with her head held high, knowing that her beauty and kindness were her true superpowers.
