Inside his snug cabin nestled in the heart of the woods, John, the great boar, hummed a cheery tune. He wore his crisp white chef’s hat, a spotless apron tied around his broad belly, and his green shirt and blue trousers were neatly pressed. This morning, he was preparing his famous berry cake, filling the kitchen with the scent of fresh berries and warm dough.
Just as John reached for his wooden spoon, a faint shuffling caught his ear. Out from a small hole near the baseboard popped Squeaky, a tiny gray mouse dressed in a bright yellow chef’s hat and matching apron. Clutching a spoon fashioned from half a walnut shell, Squeaky looked up with twinkling eyes, his whiskers twitching in anticipation.
"Good morning, John! I was hoping you’d let me help with your berry pie today—I want to make something special for Mr. Badger!"
"Well, hello there, Squeaky! I’d be delighted for a sous-chef. Let’s make this the best pie ever for Mr. Badger’s picnic," replied John, grinning and handing over a small bowl for Squeaky to use.
Side by side, the two friends set to work. Squeaky measured out sugar and berries with his tiny walnut spoon while John expertly kneaded dough. They tasted, stirred, and even sang a little duet as they worked, filling the cabin with joy.
With a triumphant flourish, they slid the pie into the oven. Squeaky peered through the oven door, his eyes wide with excitement. John set the table, laying out a checkered cloth and plates, both eager for the moment their creation would be ready.
When the pie was finally ready, its golden crust glistening and bubbling with juice, John and Squeaky carried it outside. Mr. Badger, dressed in his finest vest, clapped his paws in delight as the aroma reached him. Together, the three friends enjoyed a slice of the berry pie, laughter and stories drifting through the sunlit woods as sweet and warm as the treat they had made.
