Adam was among the cheerfully playing children, his eyes sparkling with excitement as he tossed a bright red ball to his little cat, Mimi. The tiny cat leaped gracefully, paws outstretched, batting the ball back to Adam.
"Come on, Mimi! Let's play again," he cheered, grinning widely.
Jenny, a lively girl with a ponytail, spoke up with a hint of hesitation. "Hey, Adam, we’re starting a new game, but we don’t think Mimi can play with us. She’s just a cat."
Disappointment flickered in Adam’s eyes. "But Mimi is my friend, and she loves playing with us!" he protested, his voice tinged with both sadness and determination.
Adam looked at Mimi, her eyes wide and trusting, and made up his mind. "I’m sorry, guys. I can’t leave Mimi behind. We’ll find our own game to play," he declared, picking up Mimi and heading toward the quieter part of the park.
"See, Mimi?" Adam whispered, crouching down to stroke her soft fur. "We don’t need anyone else to have fun. It’s just you and me, buddy."
Mimi purred contentedly, nuzzling against Adam’s hand, a silent promise of unwavering friendship.
Tom, a tall boy with glasses, stepped forward. "Adam, we realized something. Mimi is your friend, and you stood up for her. That’s really cool."
Adam smiled, relief flooding through him. "Thanks, guys. I just wanted you to see how much she means to me."
"How about we try that game again, with Mimi?" suggested Jenny, her eyes twinkling with excitement.
"Yeah! Let's do it," Adam exclaimed, his heart full of gratitude and joy.
And so, under the starlit sky, they all played together, a harmonious blend of laughter and companionship, where every friend—whether human or feline—was cherished and included.
