Otto watched the other kids play from a distance, his small hands gripping the grass beneath him. He wanted to join them but didn't know how to manage the storm of emotions within him. The sun shone brightly, casting long shadows of the children onto the ground, while the gentle breeze whispered through the leaves of the oak tree.
Benjo, the little dragon, was unlike anything Otto had ever seen. His scales glimmered in shades of green and blue, reflecting the sunlight in a kaleidoscope of colors. "Hi there, I'm Benjo. You seem a bit lonely," the dragon said, his voice as gentle as the rustling leaves. Otto blinked in surprise and rubbed his eyes, certain he was imagining things.
"I get so angry sometimes, and I don't know why," Otto confessed, looking down at his shoes. Benjo nodded, his eyes understanding. "Feelings can be tough, but I can help you with that. Let's try some deep breaths together," Benjo suggested. As they practiced, Otto felt a warm sense of calm washing over him, and for the first time, he smiled at his new friend.
Every day after school, Otto would rush to the park to meet Benjo. With each session, he felt a little more in control, like a captain steering his ship through rough seas. The world seemed brighter, and the laughter of the children didn't feel so distant anymore. Otto's cheeks flushed with newfound determination, his eyes reflecting the dragon's wisdom.
The sun was dipping below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink as Otto approached the group. His heart pounded, but he remembered Benjo's advice and took a deep breath. "Can I play with you?" he asked, his voice steady. The children nodded, and soon Otto was running across the field, laughter bubbling up inside him like a spring.
Otto lay on the grass next to Benjo, the night sky a blanket of stars above them. "Thank you, Benjo. I made friends today," Otto whispered, his voice filled with gratitude. "You did it yourself, Otto. You have a big heart," Benjo replied, a hint of pride in his voice. Together, under the vast sky, they knew that this friendship was just the beginning of many more adventures.
