Lucas crouched near the garden bed, his eyes scanning the ground for hidden treasures. His fingers sifted through the soil, seeking the secrets the earth might hold.
Lucas leaned closer, his breath catching as he noticed the shimmering threads. "What are you?" he whispered, captivated by the tiny creature's presence.
Lucas watched in awe as the spider continued its work, each strand of the web a testament to its craft. His mother appeared beside him, smiling. "That's a spider, Lucas," she explained gently.
Lucas nodded slowly, his mind racing with questions. "Does it hurt us?" he asked, eyes wide with both fear and fascination. "No, sweetie," his mother reassured him. "It's more afraid of us than we are of it."
Lucas felt a newfound respect for the tiny creature. "It's like magic," he mused, reaching out a tentative finger, careful not to disturb the web. "In a way, it is," his mother agreed.
Lucas sat back on his heels, a smile playing on his lips. "I think I like spiders," he declared, his fear replaced by wonder. "That's good," his mother replied, giving his shoulder a gentle squeeze. "The world is full of amazing things to discover."
