Jacob Shae watched a group of kids in superhero capes and animal masks tumbling over the grass. His nose wrinkled in disgust as a masked girl dashed past him, giggling.
"People who hide behind costumes are just cowards," he muttered under his breath, shaking his head. The world, he thought, should be brave enough to show its real face.
Jacob trailed behind his class, hands in his pockets, skepticism written on his face. He stopped before a strange-looking machine, its metal panels etched with diagrams and blinking lights. Before he could examine it, a tall figure in a dark cloak approached, his face obscured by a strange skull-shaped mask.
Strongdead, the masked stranger, bent down to Jacob’s level, his voice soft despite his intimidating appearance.
"You must trust me, Jacob. Hide in that machine—now. You’re in danger,"
Jacob hesitated, heart pounding, his distrust of costumes warring with his sense of urgency. He slipped into the machine, the door sealing him in darkness just as shouts echoed from down the hall.
Strongdead[/@ch_2] and the iconic Epiderman—stand between the beast and the crowd.]
Epiderman, in his crimson suit, launched himself at the creature, webs flying.
"You picked the wrong museum to mess with, furball!"
Strongdead dodged a swing of the beast’s claw, glancing anxiously at the machine where Jacob hid. The battle raged, colors blurring in the flashing lights, until a massive blow hurled Epiderman across the room—straight into the machine’s control panel.

"No! Stop! There’s a boy inside—"
But it’s too late. With a final surge of energy, the machine quiets. Jacob blinks, then gasps as his hands shift, morphing into different shapes—a paw, a fin, even a set of delicate wings.

"I don’t want this," he whispered, fighting tears.
Strongdead knelt beside him, removing his mask to reveal kind, tired eyes.
"Sometimes hiding isn’t about being a coward. Sometimes it’s about protecting yourself—and others. Maybe now you’ll understand."
Epiderman grinned, clapping Jacob on the shoulder.
"Hey, kid, being yourself is the bravest thing there is. But sometimes, a little disguise can help you become someone even stronger."
As the sun set outside, Jacob stared at his ever-changing reflection, a new understanding dawning behind his wary eyes.
