Alex clutches his shopping list, eyes wide with excitement. It is his first time shopping alone, and he feels a mix of thrill and nervousness.
Alex starts with the fruits and vegetables section, the air fresh with the scent of ripe produce. He carefully selects a few apples, their red skin gleaming under the fluorescent lights. "Apples, check," he mutters to himself, marking the first item off his list.
Alex picks a carton of milk, struggling slightly with its weight. Nearby, a friendly store clerk offers him a smile and a helping hand. "Need any help, young man?" the clerk asks kindly.
"Maybe just one candy bar," he decides, grabbing his favorite chocolate treat. The challenge of sticking to his budget adds a touch of anxiety to his adventure, but Alex is determined to succeed.
"You did great!" the cashier praises as Alex hands over his money. Alex beams with pride, a sense of accomplishment warming him from head to toe.
"I can't wait to tell Mom," he thinks, his heart light as he begins his journey home, arms full of groceries and mind full of stories to share.
