Tommy stood at the edge of the pool, clutching his towel tightly. "I wish I wasn't so scared," he whispered to himself, glancing at the other kids having fun in the water.
Mrs. Johnson, the swim instructor, noticed Tommy's hesitation. "Hey, Tommy, would you like to try getting in the water today?" she asked warmly. Tommy nodded slowly, feeling a mix of excitement and fear.
Tommy dipped his toes into the pool, feeling the cool water against his skin. With Mrs. Johnson's encouragement, he took a deep breath and stepped in further. "It's not so bad," he thought, his confidence growing little by little.
"I can do this," Tommy told himself, his heart pounding with every splash around him. He remembered Mrs. Johnson's advice to take small steps and focus on floating. Slowly, he let himself relax, feeling the water buoy him up.
Tommy's fear had turned into joy as he swam from one end of the pool to the other. Mrs. Johnson clapped proudly from the side. "Well done, Tommy! You're a natural," she exclaimed, her smile as bright as the afternoon sun.
Tommy wrapped his towel around himself, feeling proud of his achievement. "I faced my fears and I learned to swim," he thought, a sense of accomplishment warming his heart. Tomorrow, he knew, would bring even more adventures in the water.
