Emma, a kind-hearted girl with a bright smile, watched her classmates play. She noticed Tommy, a bigger boy, standing near the slide with a scowl on his face. He looked ready to cause trouble. "I wonder what Tommy's up to today," she thought, a bit worried.
"Get out of my way, loser!" Tommy barked, his voice booming. The other children paused, their smiles fading. Lucas, the small boy, looked down, trying to hide his tears. Emma's heart ached seeing this and decided she had to do something.
"Hey, Tommy, that's not nice," Emma said firmly, standing tall. Tommy paused, surprised by her bravery. "We all just want to play and have fun. Maybe you could join us instead of being mean?" she suggested, her eyes sincere and hopeful.
"I... I don't know," Tommy mumbled, a hint of regret in his voice. Mrs. Green, their teacher, watched from a distance, nodding approvingly at Emma’s efforts. Tommy realized how lonely he felt, pushing others away.
"I'm sorry, Lucas," Tommy said sincerely, offering a hand to the smaller boy. Lucas smiled, accepting the gesture. "Can I play with you guys?" Tommy asked, his voice softer now. Emma nodded, her heart swelling with happiness.
"See? It's more fun when we're all friends," Emma said, joining in the game. Tommy felt lighter, his previous anger washed away by the joy of belonging. As the sun set, the children left the playground, leaving behind the memory of a day when kindness turned a bully into a friend.
