Benny the Rabbit glanced around, his big ears twitching with worry as he rifled through his vest and trousers. His nose wriggled as he muttered to himself, "Oh dear, where could my carrot have gone? I had it just this morning!" Determined to find his missing snack, Benny set out across the glade, his tiny shoes leaving prints in the soft earth.
Sally the Squirrel, nimble and bright-eyed, paused mid-scurry as Benny approached the base of her tree. "Sally, have you seen my carrot? I can't seem to find it anywhere," he called up. "Oh, Benny, I'm much too busy with my acorns to notice carrots! Maybe one of your other friends has seen it," she replied, tossing him a friendly smile as she disappeared deeper into her leafy home.
Timothy the Turtle lifted his head slowly as Benny hurried to the water’s edge. "Timothy, have you seen my carrot? I seem to have lost it," Benny asked, voice tinged with hope. "Hmm, I have not seen a carrot today, Benny. Maybe you left it near the old oak tree or with someone else," Timothy responded, his voice as mellow as the pond itself.
Milo the Monkey grinned wide, his mischief sparkling in his eyes as Benny called up. "Milo, have you happened to see my missing carrot?" "A carrot? I saw a bright orange butterfly, but not a carrot! Maybe the hedgehog has seen it; he notices everything on the ground," Milo replied, swinging down to offer Benny a comforting pat on the head.
Hazel the Hedgehog looked up with a thoughtful expression as Benny approached, his whiskers drooping in disappointment. "Hazel, you’re my last hope. Have you seen my carrot? I’ve looked everywhere!" "I’m sorry, Benny, I haven’t seen it. Maybe you could try checking your pockets one more time," Hazel suggested kindly, offering a small smile.
Benny sighed and reached into his vest pocket one last time. To his astonishment, his paw closed around something long and familiar—his bright orange carrot! "Oh goodness, it was with me all along! What a silly rabbit I am," he laughed, feeling the weight of worry lift away. As the sun set, Benny nibbled happily on his carrot, grateful for his helpful friends and the adventure his forgetfulness had brought him.
