In a time long past, a splendid city thrived beneath the golden sun. Its vast temples gleamed in the morning light, while stately houses stood proudly beside broad avenues. The air was filled with laughter, and the nearby lake sparkled with crystal-clear, sweet water, reflecting the joy of its residents. Fruit trees bowed with abundance, and everywhere was the scent of blooming flowers.
As years slipped away, change swept through the city. Its people, driven by unknown forces, gathered their belongings, urging their cattle, bullocks, goats, and horses to join them on distant paths. Even the stray dogs and cats, sensing a new destiny, trailed after their human friends. Silence fell upon the streets, broken only by the rustle of leaves and the distant call of birds.
Yet not all chose to leave. The mice, small and nimble, found the city’s emptiness a blessing. With orchards now theirs alone, they feasted on juicy fruits and tender shoots. Generations grew up among the ruins, weaving a tapestry of family bonds. The old mouse and the mice community celebrated lively festivals beneath the stars, caring for one another in sickness and in health.
Far away, in a shadowy forest threaded by a once-mighty river, Queen Elephant and her elephant herd stood in distress. The river, their lifeblood, had withered to dust under a relentless sun, and the air trembled with the cries of thirsty creatures. "Spread out and seek water, my children. Our survival depends on it," the Queen commanded, her voice strong but weary.
Hope surged when the elephants discovered the sparkling lake beside the abandoned city. Trumpeting with joy, the herd charged toward its cool embrace, their massive feet pounding the earth. In their exuberance, they failed to notice the scurrying mice beneath them, and tragedy struck as many were injured or lost. The old mouse gathered the survivors, his eyes shining with sadness and resolve.
"Great Queen, we beg you to hear our sorrow. Many of our kin were lost beneath your herd’s feet. We ask only that you take a different path, so peace may return to our city," pleaded the old mouse, his tiny voice trembling yet clear. The Queen Elephant bowed her great head in remorse. "We did not know the harm we caused. I promise, never again will our feet disturb your home," she replied, her words gentle as a breeze.
Seasons passed and harmony reigned. Yet one day, danger returned—not from nature, but from men. Servants of a distant king, seeking elephants for war, dug deep pits and lured the unsuspecting herd with sweet bananas. The Queen Elephant and many others found themselves bound and helpless, fear flickering in their wise eyes.
Remembering the old mouse’s promise, the Queen Elephant sent a young elephant to the city of mice. The mice community rallied instantly. Under the cover of darkness, they poured into the forest, their teeth sharp and their spirits fierce. Working together, they gnawed through the thick ropes, freeing the majestic elephants from their bonds. "Your friendship has saved us, noble mice. We are forever in your debt," the Queen spoke, her gratitude echoing beneath the trees.
From that day, the elephants and mice were united by a bond deeper than words, forged from kindness and trust. The city of mice flourished beside the tranquil lake, while the elephants roamed the green forests, always mindful of their tiny friends. Together, they kept watch over the land, living joyfully in peace and mutual respect through all the ages that followed.
