Milo, the monkey, swung merrily from branch to branch, savoring the sweet fruits of the tree. As he munched happily, a ripple in the water caught his eye. It was Kavi, the crocodile, swimming lazily towards the shore. "Hello, friend!" the crocodile greeted, glancing at the fruit-laden branches. "Would you care for some fruit?" Milo offered generously, tossing a ripe fruit down.
Each day, Milo and Kavi met by the river. The monkey would share fruits, and the crocodile would listen to tales of the forest. Their friendship blossomed, but Kavi often found himself torn between his loyalty to his wife and his fondness for Milo. "My wife is curious about you," Kavi admitted one evening, a hint of reluctance in his voice.
Kavi returned home with fruits, but his wife's curiosity soon turned to desire. "Bring me the monkey's heart," she demanded. Kavi hesitated, his mind a battleground of friendship and obligation. Yet, he succumbed to her insistence, planning to lure Milo across the river.
Kavi invited Milo to visit his home, promising a delectable treat. Milo, trusting his friend, hopped onto the crocodile's back. Midway across the river, Kavi revealed the true intention of the journey. "Your heart, my friend, is what my wife desires," he confessed, guilt heavy in his voice.
Milo, unfazed, thought quickly. "Ah, why didn’t you say earlier? I left my heart on the tree!" he exclaimed with feigned surprise. Kavi, eager and trusting, turned back towards the shore.
As they reached the riverbank, Milo leapt to safety, climbing swiftly up the tree. He looked down at Kavi with a mix of disappointment and relief. "True friendship should never betray," he called down. The crocodile, realizing the depth of his mistake, watched his friend disappear among the branches, a lesson learned in the warmth of a new day.
