Country Mouse sits outside his burrow, nibbling a crumb of bread and enjoying the peaceful sounds of nature. The soft earth beneath him is cool, and the scent of fresh grass fills the air. Suddenly, a rustle in the grass announces the arrival of a visitor—City Mouse, his cousin, dressed in a smart little vest and carrying a tiny suitcase.
"Welcome, cousin! It's been too long. Come, let me show you my home," Country Mouse says with a wide grin.
"Thank you! It's so quiet here," City Mouse replies, glancing around with curiosity.
Country Mouse leads his cousin inside, where a simple meal of grains and seeds awaits on a leaf table.
"Is this all you have for dinner?" City Mouse asks, eyeing the plain fare.
"It's not much, but it's honest food. And we have peace and quiet," Country Mouse replies, taking another nibble.
"You must come to the city and see how we live! The food alone is worth the trip," City Mouse insists, his eyes sparkling with excitement.
Country Mouse follows nervously, his whiskers twitching at every new sound. City Mouse strides ahead with confidence, eager to show off his world.
"Look at this spread, cousin! Help yourself," City Mouse whispers.
"I've never seen so much food in one place," Country Mouse marvels.
But before they can savor their feast, a sudden crash echoes through the kitchen. The shadow of a cat looms in the doorway, eyes glinting menacingly.
"We have to get out of here!" Country Mouse squeaks, trembling.
"Quick, this way!" City Mouse urges, leading his cousin through a maze of pipes and shadows, narrowly escaping the cat’s claws.
"Thank you for showing me the city, cousin, but I think I prefer my quiet home," Country Mouse admits, gazing up at the stars.
"I understand," City Mouse replies with a gentle smile. "Perhaps a simple life, with a little less excitement, is not so bad after all."
