Patches lazily stretched on the windowsill, enjoying the warmth of the sun on his fur. Nearby, Luna was perched atop the armrest of the sofa, her eyes half-closed as she purred contentedly. Peanut was a ball of energy, darting around the room chasing a stray sunbeam.
"It's going to be a beautiful day," Patches mused, glancing at his companions.
"I hope it stays peaceful," Luna replied with a soft yawn.
Vinti entered the room, her bright eyes wide with wonder. She was a newcomer to the cottage, and the other cats eyed her with a mix of curiosity and apprehension.
"Who is this?" Peanut asked, skidding to a halt.
"I believe that's Vinti," Patches responded, trying to sound welcoming despite his cautious demeanor.
Vinti explored the nooks and crannies of her new home, occasionally crossing paths with the other cats. She attempted to join in their games, only to be met with wary glances.
"She's so different," Luna whispered to Patches, watching Vinti from a distance.
"Give her time," Patches advised, his voice gentle. "We were all new here once."
Vinti hesitated, eyeing the sunlit patch longingly. Seeing her uncertainty, Peanut darted forward and playfully nudged her towards it.
"Come on, there's room for everyone," he chirped.
Slowly, the other cats joined, forming a snug circle. The tension dissolved as they basked in the shared warmth, their differences forgotten.
Luna nudged Vinti affectionately, acknowledging her as part of their family.
"You're one of us now," she murmured.
"Thank you," Vinti replied softly, her heart swelling with contentment.
The four cats were nestled together, their breathing synchronized in a peaceful lullaby. The cozy cottage was once again filled with harmony, each cat finding their place in this newfound family.
