Bholu, a clever monkey, swung from branch to branch, savoring the luscious berries of the old Jamun tree. His fur glistened in the sunlight as he munched on the sweetness. Life was simple, and he was content in his leafy abode.
Kaliya, the crocodile, emerged from the riverbank, his scales glistening with water. He appeared weary and hungry, his eyes scanning the surroundings. Bholu noticed him and, feeling generous, decided to offer some berries. "Here, taste these," he called out, tossing a handful of berries towards Kaliya.
Days turned into weeks, and soon Bholu and Kaliya became friends. They would meet by the riverbank, sharing stories and laughter. Kaliya often took berries home for his wife, and their bond grew stronger with each passing day. "You are indeed a generous friend, Bholu," Kaliya would say, his voice filled with gratitude.
Under the moon's glow, Kaliya found himself in a dilemma. His wife, cunning and greedy, had planted a seed of betrayal in his heart. "If the berries are so sweet, imagine how sweet Bholu's heart must be," she whispered. Torn between his friendship and his wife's wishes, Kaliya devised a plan.
The following morning, Kaliya invited Bholu for a ride across the river, claiming his wife wanted to meet him. Bholu, trusting his friend, climbed onto Kaliya's back. Midway, Kaliya revealed the truth, his voice heavy with regret. "My friend, I am sorry. My wife desires your heart," he confessed.
Bholu, ever the quick thinker, feigned surprise and calmly said, "Ah, why didn't you say so earlier? I've left my heart on the tree. Let's return, and I'll fetch it for you." Kaliya, deceived by Bholu's words, swam back to the riverbank. As soon as they reached the shore, Bholu leaped onto the tree, his eyes gleaming with intelligence. "Foolish crocodile! How could you believe such a tale? You betrayed our friendship for greed!"
Bholu sat high on his Jamun tree, recounting his story to the younger animals of the forest. His voice was calm, yet filled with the wisdom of experience. "Remember, my young friends, loyalty is a treasure, and wit is your shield. Be wary of those who tempt you with greed and betrayal," he advised, leaving them with a lesson to cherish in their hearts.
