Reagan[/@ch_1] steps outside. The hallway is silent except for the gentle snoring of dogs sprawled beside the entryway.]
Reagan quietly pulls on her coat, glancing back to make sure she hasn’t disturbed anyone. With a final look, she slips out, the door clicking gently behind her. In the hush that follows, two small figures emerge from the shadows—a pair of mischievous friends waiting for their chance.
Bubbles[/@ch_2], a fluffy white rabbit with bright eyes, and Theresa, a tiny brown mouse with twitching whiskers, move with practiced stealth past the sleeping dogs.]
[@ch_2]"Shhh, Theresa, don’t wake them up,"[/@ch_2_d]
[@ch_3]"I’m trying, Bubbles! Let’s tiptoe,"[/@ch_3_d]
They inch along the wall, barely breathing, their hearts pounding with excitement. The dogs remain blissfully unaware, lost in dreams, as the duo slips into the next room.
Bubbles lifts her nose, sniffing the delightful aroma. Theresa scurries up onto the table, eyes wide at the feast before them.
"Oh, Bubbles, look at all this food! Let’s have a taste of everything!"
They nibble bread, munch cheese, and taste jam until their bellies are round and groaning.
Bubbles[/@ch_2] and Theresa stare at the shiny silver toilet handle.]
"How many times do you think it’ll flush before something happens?"
"Only one way to find out!"
Flush after flush, they giggle louder, until water spills over the rim and splashes across the floor, sending them skittering and laughing all the way upstairs.
Bubbles[/@ch_2] and Theresa tug open Reagan’s closet, revealing a trove of purple and pink dresses.]
"Let’s try the sparkly one!"
They twirl and tumble in layers of satin and lace, leaving a chaotic trail of dresses on the carpet. Their play turns into a bouncing competition on the bed, ending in a wild collision—bonking heads with a surprised yelp—and tumbling off in a heap.
Bubbles and Theresa curl up close, feeling the chill leave their fur. Their eyelids grow heavy as the excitement of the morning catches up with them.
"Do you think Reagan will ever know what happened today?"
"Only if she finds the mess in her closet and the soggy bathroom floor,"
They giggle one last time before sneaking outside to nap in the soft hay, dreaming of their next adventure.
