Mom tiptoes quietly into her daughter’s room, a warm smile on her face. "Good morning, Halle! Time to wake up—today’s a special day," she says, brushing a hand over her daughter’s hair.
In the next room, Dad is already leaning over Chad, gently shaking him awake. "Rise and shine, buddy. Guess what? We’re getting a new pet today,"
Halle grins wide, excitement sparkling in her eyes. "I really hope we get a cat or maybe a fluffy rabbit," she says, swinging her legs under the table.
Chad shakes his head, spoon halfway to his mouth. "No way! A lizard would be awesome. Or maybe a dog—especially if we can name him Rover,"
Mom and Dad exchange amused glances, listening as their children’s voices mingle over the breakfast chatter.
Halle and Chad press their faces to the glass, pointing out dogs being walked and birds perched on streetlights.
"Do you think we’ll see any rabbits at the store?" Halle asks, voice bubbling with hope.
"I just hope there’s a puppy named Rover waiting for us," Chad replies, grinning at his sister.
Halle kneels beside the puppies, giggling as one licks her fingers. Chad is drawn to a small, brown puppy with a wagging tail and bright eyes.
"Look at him, Halle! He looks just like a Rover," Chad exclaims, voice full of wonder.
Dad nods, smiling as the puppy snuggles into Chad’s arms, while Mom snaps a quick picture.

"Tag! You’re it, Rover!" Halle laughs, running alongside her brother.
Dad tosses a ball for Rover, while Mom watches, her heart full as she sees her family—now five—together in the sunshine.

"Hold still, Rover! You have to be clean for your first night," Chad says, giggling as Rover shakes water everywhere.
Later, the whole family gathers in the living room, whispering goodnights as Chad tucks Rover into his new bed. The house settles into quiet, everyone drifting to sleep, dreaming of more adventures together.
