The citizens of Brighton gather in small, anxious clusters, staring in disbelief at the impossible structure that appeared overnight. Cars screech to a halt along the main avenues as everyone cranes their necks to see the phenomenon. Mayor Sampson stands on the steps of city hall, clutching a megaphone, his face pale with concern.
"Remain calm, everyone. We are investigating the situation. Please stay indoors and away from the door,"
The giant children stoop to pick up cars, treating them like tiny toys, and walk along the city’s major roads, their enormous hands gently scooping up buses and moving them aside. Their faces are filled with delight and curiosity, oblivious to the panic below. Screams and shouts rise from the citizens as they scramble for shelter in underground stations and parking garages.
One little girl, her hair tied in enormous pigtails, lifts a city bus and peers inside, giggling at the tiny passengers before setting it carefully back on the street.
Mayor Sampson darts through the confusion, rallying a group of first responders.
"Head for the shelters! Help anyone you see! We must stay safe until we know what these giants want,"
A child’s hand descends, palm as wide as a city block, but instead of crushing, it gently rights a fallen traffic light, as if arranging playthings in a sandbox.

"Children, what are you doing? Playtime is over. You know the rules—everything must be put back where you found it,"
The giant children freeze, exchanging sheepish glances. One speaks up, her voice trembling, "Yes, Miss Serafrosyne. We’re sorry."
Citizens peek from their hiding spots, watching as the children work with surprising delicacy. Mayor Sampson emerges onto a balcony, a mix of awe and relief on his face.
"They’re…fixing everything. Maybe we’re going to be alright after all,"
With a final sweep of her hand, Miss Serafrosyne ensures every last detail is in place.

"I apologize for the inconvenience, dear people of Brighton. I am a worker at a day-care center on our side of the portal. Somehow, this door became a gateway to your world. I promise we will be more careful in the future. Thank you for your patience,"
With that, the children file through the door, which slowly fades into the morning mist, leaving Brighton whole but forever changed. The citizens gather in the streets, exchanging stunned laughter and stories, wondering if anyone would ever believe what they had seen.
