The skyline wobbled with every giggle and shriek, as pudgy hands plucked cars from the roads and stacked entire buildings like toy blocks. Windows rattled while citizens sprinted for cover, ducking into subways, alleys, and anywhere they could squeeze. The toddlers’ faces were lit with innocent glee, oblivious to the chaos their play was causing. Streetlights bent, parks became playmats, and the city’s heart pulsed with panic and awe.
Shopkeepers hurriedly shuttered their windows as the ground shuddered beneath the toddlers’ enormous feet. Amid the bedlam, a young woman pulled her grandmother behind a marble statue, eyes wide as a gigantic toddler plopped down nearby and began stacking benches atop one another. Police officers shouted orders, hoping to direct the masses, but their voices vanished beneath the thunderous laughter overhead. The city felt small, fragile, and utterly at the mercy of these playful giants.
Miss Serafrosyne surveyed the scene, her eyes filling with both concern and authority. She gently clapped her hands, the sound echoing like distant thunder, drawing the attention of every giant toddler. "Children, playtime is over. It’s time to gather round," she called, her voice calm yet impossible to ignore. Instantly, the toddlers dropped their makeshift toys and shuffled sheepishly towards her, their heads bowed.
She addressed the crowd, her tone apologetic yet soothing. "I am Miss Serafrosyne, a worker at the day-care center in my world. Something strange happened—a portal from our playroom opened into your city. I am terribly sorry for the inconvenience and all the trouble these little ones have caused," she explained, bowing slightly. The citizens emerged slowly, their fear mingling with curiosity as they realized the toddlers meant no harm.
Miss Serafrosyne knelt, her shadow stretching protectively over the plaza. "I will make sure everything is put right. My world compensates for any damages, and I promise this will never happen again," she added, waving a hand as a shimmering dust began to settle on the broken buildings. Gradually, walls reformed, cars unbent themselves, and the city regained its shape. Children peered out in wonder as the magic of her world mended what had been broken.
Miss Serafrosyne paused at the portal’s edge, looking back at the citizens. "Thank you for your patience and bravery. Take care of your city, and may peace return to your streets," she said with a warm nod. The portal shimmered, swallowing the giants and leaving behind a city stronger, more united, and forever changed by the day playtime broke through the boundaries of worlds.
