Ella sat quietly at her desk, doodling in her diary. Her eyes occasionally flickered towards Liam, who was busy chatting with his friends across the room. The bell rang, jolting her from her thoughts as children spilled out into the hallway.
"See you later, Maya!" Ella called to her best friend, who waved back with a cheerful grin.
Ella watched from a distance as Liam and his friends played soccer. She felt a pang of longing, wanting to join but unsure of how to break into the group. Maya noticed her hesitation and nudged her gently.
"Just go talk to him, Ella. He's nice!" Maya encouraged.
"What if he thinks I'm weird?" Ella replied, her voice tinged with worry.
Ella found solace in the library, her fingers tracing the spines of books as she wandered the aisles. She settled into a cozy corner, pulling out her diary to sketch her thoughts.
"Dear Diary, today was tough, but maybe tomorrow will be different," she wrote, her pencil dancing over the pages.
Liam approached Ella shyly, holding a drawing he had made. Ella looked up, surprised but pleased.
"I noticed you like drawing. I made this for you," Liam said, handing her the paper.
"Thank you, Liam! It's amazing," Ella replied, her face lighting up with a smile.
Ella and Liam walked side by side, their newfound friendship blossoming. Maya joined them, her presence adding to the warmth of the moment.
"Maybe we can all draw together sometime?" Liam suggested.
"I'd love that," Ella agreed, feeling her heart lift with hope and excitement.
