A low, rumbling yawn echoes through the cavern as the Dragon, his emerald eyes blinking sleep away, stretches his wings. The rocks tremble under his weight, dust swirling in golden shafts of morning light. After a century of slumber, the hunger in his belly burns like fire.
The Dragon lumbers down the mountainside, his scales flashing in the rising sun. Birds scatter at his approach, and villagers peeking from their windows gasp in terror. A delicious scent wafts up from the village, making his stomach rumble louder.
Sia, a clever and brave boy, meets the dragon’s hungry gaze. "Yum, a boy for breakfast!" "Don't eat me!" "I'll give you some food," he pleads, thinking quickly. The villagers watch anxiously from behind barrels and doors.
Sia ushers the Dragon inside, offering him three heaping plates of chicken and rice. The Dragon devours the meal, licking his chops, but soon grumbles, "I'm still hungry." Sia races to the kitchen, bringing five plates of noodles and ten sizzling sausages. Still, the dragon’s hunger is not sated.
Together, Sia and the Dragon enter the restaurant, and the staff, trembling, serve six puddings and a towering cake. The Dragon gobbles everything, crumbs and cream spattering the floor, yet sighs, "I am still a bit hungry!" Sia’s brow furrows in worry as he checks his empty pockets.
With trembling hands, Sia pulls out a single, brightly wrapped sweet. He offers it to the Dragon, who pops it into his mouth. For a moment, all is still—then the dragon’s eyes widen, his cheeks puff, and with a tremendous bang, he explodes into a cloud of glitter and smoke. "Hooray!" shouts Sia, as the villagers pour out in celebration, relieved and laughing, for the dragon is gone at last and no more boys will be breakfast.
