Daisy, the baby duck, watched as rabbits bounced and squirrels chased each other in circles. She longed to join in but felt unsure, her webbed feet shuffling nervously in the grass. She looked around, hoping to spot a familiar face, when suddenly a white kitten with gray paws appeared beside her, tail high and eyes sparkling with mischief.
Snowboots[/@ch_2], approaches Daisy with a friendly purr. The sunlight catches on Snowboots’ soft fur, making her look almost magical amid the tall grass.]
"Hi Daisy! Why are you standing here all alone? Don’t you want to play with everyone else?"
Daisy looked down, her beak quivering slightly.
"I do, but I don’t know how to play like they do. What if I mess up, or nobody wants to play with a duck?"
"Don’t worry! I’ll be right by your side. Friends help each other—that’s what friends are for," Snowboots replied, nudging Daisy gently.
Snowboots led Daisy toward the group, her confidence giving Daisy a little strength. The rabbits paused and looked up, their noses twitching curiously. The squirrels chattered among themselves, and a friendly turtle poked its head out of the water to watch.
"Hey everyone, this is my friend Daisy! She wants to play with us today," Snowboots announced. The animals smiled, and the rabbits hopped aside to make room.
Jumpy the Rabbit, with floppy ears and a warm smile, spoke up: "We’d love for you to join us, Daisy! Let’s start with a game of tag—Snowboots is great at it, and she can show you how."
Daisy followed Snowboots, her feet splashing in a shallow puddle. At first, she was slow and awkward, but with Snowboots encouraging her, she soon found herself giggling as she chased after Benny and the squirrels. The other animals cheered her on, making her feel welcome and included.
"See? You’re doing great, Daisy! Just have fun and be yourself," Snowboots called over her shoulder. Daisy laughed, splashing and waddling more confidently with every step.
"Thank you, Snowboots. I never thought I could have so much fun," Daisy said, her eyes shining.
"You just needed a friend to help you try. You’re braver than you think," Snowboots replied, giving Daisy a gentle nuzzle. The other animals gathered around, inviting Daisy to join them again tomorrow.
Daisy realized that with a good friend and a little courage, she could belong anywhere. The gentle sound of the pond and the laughter of new friends lingered in the air as she and Snowboots disappeared down the path, ready for more adventures to come.
