Eli the Elephant woke up with a big yawn, stretching his trunk toward the sky. He glanced around, noticing how peaceful everything felt. "Today will be a wonderful day for adventure," he announced to the fluttering butterflies nearby.
Eli watched the rabbits hop and the squirrels scamper, wishing he could join their games. He tried to tiptoe behind them, but every step shook the ground and sent a flock of birds fluttering. "Why does everyone run away when I try to play?" he wondered aloud, his ears drooping.
Eli tried to crouch behind a large bush, but as soon as he did, the whole bush flattened under his weight. A chipmunk peeked out from behind a rock. Lila the Chipmunk, Eli's friend, scampered over, her tiny nose twitching. "Eli, you’re bigger than all of us! Maybe you forgot?"
Eli sighed, feeling clumsy and out of place. "I just want to play, but I keep ruining everyone’s fun," he mumbled. Lila patted his trunk gently. "Don’t be sad, Eli. Being big can be wonderful, too!"
Lila called out, "Eli, we need your help! Only someone as big as you can move that log." With determination sparkling in his eyes, Eli stomped over, wrapped his trunk around the heavy log, and pulled with all his might. The log rolled away, and the water flowed freely again.
Lila beamed up at Eli. "See? You’re our hero! We need you just as you are," she cheered. Eli smiled wider than ever before, feeling proud and happy. "I’ll never forget how big I am again," he trumpeted, and from that day on, Eli played in his own special way, using his size to help his friends and make the jungle a happier place.
