Batgirl turned the page, her voice gentle and melodic as she read aloud. "Can you read the one about the wolf again?" Alex asked, his eyes wide with wonder.
As Batgirl read, Alex noticed the pages of the book shimmering, almost alive. Suddenly, a gust of wind ruffled the curtains, and Batgirl sensed something amiss. "Stay close, Alex," she instructed, her eyes scanning the room.
Batgirl quickly assessed the situation. "We need to get out of here!" she exclaimed, scooping Alex into her arms. The wolf growled, and the witch's laughter echoed, sending chills down their spines.
Batgirl sprinted, her cape fluttering behind her. "Are they gone?" Alex whispered, clutching the book tightly. "Not yet, but we will be safe soon," she reassured him.
Batgirl gently set Alex down and examined the book. "This isn't an ordinary book," she mused. Alex watched as she turned the pages, revealing intricate runes and symbols. "It's enchanted," she concluded.
Batgirl tossed the book into the fire, and as it burned, the creatures vanished into wisps of smoke. "Will they come back?" Alex asked. "Not from this book," she smiled, reassuring him.
Batgirl placed a hand on Alex's shoulder. "Here's a new story for us to explore," she said. "This one won't bring anything to life, right?" Alex asked with a grin. "No magic needed," she laughed, and together they opened the book to a new adventure.
