Ahmad, Jia Wei, and Ramesh sat on the grass, the sun casting a warm glow on their faces. The yard was alive with the vibrant colors of blooming flowers and the soft rustling of leaves. "Let's explore the forest at the edge of the village," suggested Ahmad, his eyes sparkling with excitement.
"But isn't it supposed to be haunted?" questioned Jia Wei, glancing at Ramesh, who shrugged with a smile.
"Mystery makes it even more interesting," Ramesh replied with a grin.
The trio ventured into the forest, the air cooler and filled with the earthy scent of pine. Birds chirped overhead, and every now and then, a twig snapped underfoot. Ahmad led the way, his enthusiasm contagious. Suddenly, they stopped, captivated by an ancient tree, its gnarled roots weaving through the earth like the fingers of time.
"Look at that!" exclaimed Jia Wei as Ahmad knelt to inspect something shiny among the roots.
Ahmad picked up the gloves, their leather smooth against his fingers. Intrigued, he slipped them on, feeling an immediate surge of energy. A sudden breeze stirred the leaves, and the forest seemed to hold its breath.
"Ahmad, are you okay?" Ramesh asked, stepping closer, concern etched across his face.
"I feel... different," Ahmad replied, a mixture of wonder and uncertainty in his voice.
In the days that followed, Ahmad became a hero in the village, his strength unparalleled. He lifted burdens with ease, the sun glinting off his gloves as children cheered. Yet, with each feat, a shadow of pride crept into his heart. Jia Wei and Ramesh watched from afar, their joy for him tainted by a growing distance.
"He’s changed," Jia Wei murmured, sadness in his eyes.
"I miss our old Ahmad," Ramesh replied softly.
Ahmad wandered back to the forest, the moon casting a silver path through the trees. The whispers seemed to echo his thoughts, a reprimand for his arrogance. He paused, looking at his hands, the gloves no longer a source of pride but a burden.
"What have I become?" he whispered to the night, a flicker of remorse in his heart.
Ahmad ran, the fear of losing his friends propelling him forward. The ground shook as the boulder approached, but he stood firm, determination in his eyes. As he lifted the boulder, the gloves cracked, their power waning.
"Ahmad!" screamed Jia Wei, watching in horror and awe.
With a final effort, Ahmad hurled the boulder away, collapsing as the gloves disintegrated into dust.
"You saved us," Ramesh said, kneeling beside him, relief flooding his voice.
Ahmad smiled weakly, the weight of his pride lifted at last. In that moment, he understood the true power of friendship, more enduring than any magic.
The trio sat beneath the ancient tree, the sun warming their faces, the forest alive with the sound of their laughter. The gloves were gone, but their friendship was stronger than ever. Ahmad glanced at his friends, gratitude shining in his eyes.
"Thank you for standing by me," he said, his voice filled with sincerity.
"We'll always be here," replied Jia Wei, smiling.
"Together forever," added Ramesh, sealing their promise with a hug.
