Ivie, a spirited little girl with bright eyes and untamed curls, hopped out of the old pickup truck. Ma, her gentle and caring Grandmother, waved them off as Pa, a kind-hearted man with a twinkle in his eye, welcomed Ivie with open arms. "Welcome to Cootamundra, my darling," he said, enveloping her in a warm hug.
Ivie and Pa settled onto the pond chairs . Pa sliced open the dragon fruit, revealing its striking magenta flesh dotted with tiny black seeds. "It's like eating a piece of magic," Ivie marveled as she savored the sweet, juicy fruit. "Every bite is an adventure," Pa agreed with a chuckle.
With the dragon fruit nearly gone, Pa began to weave tales of wonder. "Long ago, dragons roamed these lands," he began, his voice low and melodic. Ivie listened intently, her imagination painting vivid images of majestic dragons soaring through the sky and guarding hidden treasures beneath the earth.
Ivie's eyes sparkled with dreams of adventure. "Do you think we could find a dragon, Pa?" she asked, her voice filled with wonder. "Anything is possible if you believe, my dear," Pa replied, his gaze faraway, as if recalling his own youthful dreams.
Pa leaned closer, whispering conspiratorially, "Tomorrow, we'll set off on our own adventure. We'll explore the hidden corners of Cootamundra and see what treasures we might find." Ivie grinned, her heart racing with excitement. "I can't wait!" she exclaimed, hugging Pa tightly.
Ivie and Pa lingered near the pond, watching the stars twinkle like diamonds in the sky. This summer in Cootamundra was already shaping up to be one filled with magic and memories to last a lifetime. As they sat together, dreaming of dragons and distant lands, Ivie knew that with Pa by her side, anything was possible.
