Mia, a curious 8-year-old girl with a wild mop of curly hair, sits cross-legged on the floor, a big Bible open in her lap. Her little brother, Eli, age 5, bounces beside her, while their mother, Mrs. Moore, sits nearby, sipping tea. "Mom, is God like a grandpa? My friend said He is old and far away, like grandpas sometimes are.""That’s a wonderful question, Mia," she smiles, setting her cup down. "But God isn’t our grandpa—He is our Father, and He is always close to us, loving us every single day."
"Listen to what the Bible says in John, chapter 1, verse 12," she begins, her voice gentle. "‘Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.’" Eli looks up, eyes wide, and asks, "So we are God’s kids? Not just His grandkids?""Exactly! Through faith in Jesus, we all become God’s own children, not grandchildren. God isn’t bound by age—He loves us as His sons and daughters."
"Just like a parent takes care of their children, God takes care of us," she explains, touching the word ‘Love’ on the board. "In Deuteronomy, the fifth book in the Old Testament, God tells parents to teach their children about Him—when you sit, when you walk, when you go to sleep, and when you wake up. God wants us to know Him always.""Is that why you tell us about God every day?" "Yes, Mia. It’s my responsibility, and it brings me joy."
"King Solomon, the wisest man, wrote many lessons for children," she says. "In the book of Proverbs he says, ‘My child, listen when your father corrects you. Don’t neglect your mother’s instruction. What you learn from them will crown you with grace and be a chain of honor around your neck.’""Does that mean if we listen, we’ll be wise and happy?" "Yes, Eli! God’s wisdom helps us make good choices and live a joyful life."
"I want to remember what you teach us, Mom," Mia whispers. "That’s why we tie them around our hearts, just like the Bible says," Mrs. Moore smiles. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and He will show you which path to take.""Can we pray and ask God to help us listen and obey?" "Of course, Eli. That’s what children of God do."
Mrs. Moore leads the family in a gentle prayer, asking God for wisdom, courage, and a loving heart. As the children’s eyes grow sleepy, they feel safe, knowing that God is not distant—He is their loving Father, always near, guiding them every day. God word is true and promises that God’s love and guidance never fade, and the lessons of faith and wisdom will remain in our hearts forever.
