Ella was sitting on a blanket with her mom and dad, watching the clouds drift by. Her parents looked at each other with kind smiles, but Ella noticed something different in their eyes. "Mom, Dad, why do you look sad sometimes?" she asked, her voice as gentle as the breeze.
Mom and Dad sat down with Ella on the sofa. "Sweetheart, sometimes moms and dads decide to live in separate homes," Mom began softly. "But we both love you very much, and that will never change," added Dad, his eyes full of warmth.
Ella looked at the puzzle on the table, picking up a piece and fitting it next to another. "So, it's like a puzzle? Even if the pieces are apart, they still fit together in the end?" she asked, her eyes lighting up with the realization. "Exactly," Mom replied, squeezing her hand gently.
Dad sat beside Ella, pointing at the stars. "Families can be like the stars, shining brightly even when they're a little far apart," he explained. Ella nodded, feeling the comfort of his words like a soft hug. "I think I understand," she whispered, smiling at the twinkling sky.
Mom flipped the pancakes with a flourish, while Ella set the table. "Can we still have pancake breakfasts, even if you live in different houses?" she asked eagerly. "Of course! We'll always have special times together, no matter what," Mom assured her, her smile as bright as the morning sun.
Ella skipped along the garden path, holding her parents' hands. "I'm glad we're like a puzzle and the stars," she said happily. Dad squeezed her hand, "And remember, our love for you is the glue that keeps us all together,". As the sun dipped below the horizon, Ella knew that even though some things might change, the love of her family would always be there.
